Loretta initially trained in the law and turned to financial regulation in 1990, becoming the first Head of Enforcement, Law, Policy and International Cooperation for the FSA and chairing the International Organisation of Securities Commissions’ Standing Committee on Enforcement and Information-Sharing. Loretta became Chief Executive of the FSCS in 2004, overseeing the payment of compensation to consumers during the 2008 financial crisis. She then moved on to become the Chief Executive of Christian Aid in 2010, a post she held until she took up her current role as First Church Estates Commissioner in November 2017.
